It's Raining...Still

It's been raining in Massachusetts for about 5 days now. The first couple of days weren't so bad. Then on Saturday, I had to drive an hour to and from dance class - my van hydroplanes - it's not fun.

I get home in time for dinner - it's raining harder in Western Mass then it is near Boston. I change into my slippers and head down the basement to do laundry. I should not have changed my shoes. My basement was a giant system of streams and rivers.

Dammit - do I hate this place!!!

My grandfather (84)just called and is so worried about all the rain we're getting out here - I think he thinks we'll float away.

  • When it rains a lot here, people canoe in the flood plain right below my house. It looks so wierd, considering that 51 weeks out of the year, its just a grassy plain with cows in it. Cows can swim by the way! What a sight!

  • You know, we Seattlites can definitely feel ya on this one.
Although I haven't experienced the floating basement, that definitely takes the suckage to an all new low.

  • I've heard about all your rain on the news. Hope you don't get too flooded out. :(

Hydroplaning is quite scary, I've had a few close calls with that too.

In the words of our parents... "be carefull" ;)

  • I'm confused, basement?? snow?? I'm unfamiliar with these words.

Although I do understand rain and lots of it. Hurricane season is the bestest!! My VA roommate insists there was an error in naming this the sunshine state. She claims we get more rain, more often, on more days than up north.

If your, er, basement thingy fills up with more water, open the dryer and turn it on full blast. See if you can get a wave pool going!! Surfs up!

P.S. your rain and CO snow have been plastered all over the news here, too. We're just kind of glad they're talking about something other than hurricanes for once.

  • They cancelled school yesterday in Denver because of snow. That's like cancelling school in Seattle because of rain. Or cancelling school in Houston because it's humid. Makes no sense.
